Thanksgiving 2011 has come and gone. I’ve cooked the feast now several times, but always at my Mom’s house. This was my first year not only handling all the dishes, but hosting it in my home.
I didn’t get time to snap any pictures of my sides, which included two kinds of mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing, brussel sprouts with red onion, bacon and pecans, and two kinds of green bean casseroles.
The turkey is filled with carrots, garlic cloves, celery, apples, sage, thyme, and rosemary. It’s covered with wildflower honey, sea salt and cracked black pepper.
The pies are pumpkin, apple and sugar-free cherry (for my Dad).

Ditto.
I hope your Thanksgiving was amazing, Rae!
We also went and saw The Muppets, which was as pitch-perfect a movie as I’ve seen this entire year. It is as much for adults as it is for kids. I absolutely loved it.
The best part of the day, of course, was just getting everyone together in Vasant and I’s place and serving them Thanksgiving dinner. I’ve waited so many years for this place to be finished. Last year, for various reasons, it didn’t work out for the dinner to be here, but this year it did. It was wonderful having everyone in the house, laughing and eating.
Although, I have less and less of an appetite each successive year I cook this meal. You’d think working so hard I’d be famished, but all I want to do is nap by the time the ten hours of cooking reaches its end.
I have an appetite tonight, though. It’s time for leftovers!
Loved having everyone over to our place. Sarah’s turkey is the best I’ve ever eaten. Also, we had pie for breakfast this...
